Gemma completed her BA in English Lit at the University of Birmingham where she did a lot of work with Redbrick, the student newspaper. This started her along the path of content writing as a profession. Her first industry job after graduating was at Liberty as a Junior Content Specialist. Her favourite part of her current role is anything that lets her deep-dive into some research and taking on new clients as she gets to familiarise herself with a whole new sector that she previously hasn’t had experience with.

Gemma is currently responsible for site copy and blog content, whether that be researching, planning, or writing the content itself. This extends to ad copy, and even some social media work from time to time.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I got to interview Jacqueline Wilson for Hay Festival a few years ago!

What’s been the proudest moment of your life so far?

Probably graduating during the pandemic. I was in my final year during the peak of it, so the fact I managed to turn in a dissertation I was really proud of and graduate with a good grade was a major win for me.

What’s been the biggest professional achievement of your life so far?

In 2023 I spoke on a panel about LGBTQ+ rights in the workplace, how to have conversations about it while staying respectful, and at what point curiosity can cross over into being inappropriate. As a queer woman this topic is incredibly important to me, so to be in a position where I can inform and educate other people on it is a huge achievement.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
