Liberty get Ready to Rock Retail @ Google’s London HQ

Earlier this week, the Google Partners ran an exclusive event for digital marketers at their London HQ and we sent 3 of our account managers along to learn the latest.

The Ready to Rock Retail event covered all the latest in retail trends and how we can optimise our Ecommerce campaigns to make the most of it for our clients.

Here’s what we learned:

Shopping on Mobile is Only Getting Bigger

One of the biggest takeaways from the event was the importance of mobile. We all know how important having a mobile optimised website is, but the stats really speak for themselves when we say that 2015 is the year of the smartphone. 40% of all UK sales now happen on a mobile, but furthermore, mobile shopping queries will exceed desktop during this Christmas period.

As consumers, we’re all much less patient than we were 5, 3 or even 1 year ago. Today, 83% of users expect a page to load in less than 4 seconds, and 47% of people expect the page to load in less than 2 seconds.

Liberty tip: Make sure your Above the Fold content loads as quickly as possible to decrease the number of users who bounce.

TestingForeign Markets Can Unlock Huge Revenue

We learnt about how to test foreign markets using various tools and campaigns. Global retail eCommerce will account for $1.67 trillion in 2015.

Thanks to tools like the Consumer Barometer you can now access a wealth of data to help you understand your global potential.

It Pays to Know your Audience

We discussed the importance of knowing your audience – not just through standard demographics, but by getting to know your customer and their needs through their online activity, and how to reach them at every stage of the buying funnel.

  • GSPs (Gmail Sponsored Promotions) – An effective way to reach a relevant audience with great targeting methods. Stay tuned for a guide coming soon!
  • The Power of Remarketing – There are so many ways to build your remarketing lists – we discussed some of the best ways to narrow your audience and make the most of dynamic remarketing to target them.
  • TrueView Ads – The latest in YouTube advertising got us very excited (particularly for our fashion clients). These are a fantastic way to showcase your products and make converting very easy for your viewer.

Online is Just as Important In-store

With 84% of smartphone users consulting their phones whilst shopping in-store, ensuring you have information readily available is more important than ever when influencing buying decisions.

Over the last 4 years, there has been a 53% drop in foot traffic, thanks to the growth of the online marketplace. However, when customers do shop in store, they’re spending twice as much!

Christmas is Coming

Yes, it’s August, butit’s important to start preparing for Christmas NOW. The Christmas period no longer just means that couple of weeks in the lead up to Christmas Day, we now have to consider Black Friday in our marketing plans. Black Friday 2014 was the biggest day EVER for online sales.
