The Liberty Festive Digital Detox – in Association with Shelter Cymru
The Liberty Festive Digital Detox
The Western world is addicted to digital. Two-thirds of UK adults own a smartphone and the average person spends three hours a day online*.
As a team of tech-savvy marketing fiends, nobody is guiltier of digital overkill than us. So it’s time to go back to basics…
From November 30th to December 12th, 5 of us are doing a digital detox to raise money for Shelter Cymru. That means:
- No personal internet use – goodbye Google, see ya Spotify, laters Strava.
- No smartphone – adios WhatsApp, arrivederci Gmail
- No social media – farewell Facebook, adios Instagram, ta-ra Twitter.

Why We’re Detoxing
December is a notoriously busy month, and all of the hullabaloo around the festive season makes it easy to forget what the festive season is really about. Without meaning to dip into the Big Book of Christmas Clichés, we want to help some less fortunate people out – while hopefully getting a little context ourselves.
We’ve teamed up with Shelter Cymru, an amazing organisation that helps thousands of vulnerable people. This infographic shows just why Shelter is so important.

Please donate. Lord knows we’d like our 12 days of
misery to be worth something.
Find Out How We’re Coping
Throughout December, we’ll be blogging about our personal detox experiences and challenges. We’ll also be analysing how digital affects our culture – and what this means for individuals, communities and brands.
